Become a Friend of the Folk School for 2008

December 2007

Dear Friend:
It’s hard to believe we are at the end of yet another year. Looking back, I am once again amazed at the generosity, talent, and dedication of all of you who make up the Folk School of St. Louis community. You are our students, workshop participants, volunteers, donors, audience members, and community ambassadors. Without you, there is no Folk School.

With your support—from financial support to participation at events—consider what the Folk School has done this past year. We have:
• Built class enrollment to 100 students per session
• Searched for, found, and committed to a new location so that we can serve even more students, and serve them (you!) better next year and beyond
• Expanded our class offerings, which now include the LabClass series, Upright Bass, Dobro, and Children’s Fiddle Classes
• Hosted workshops with legendary musicians like Roland White, Dan Gellert, and Chirps Smith
• Continued to build the Schlafly student showcases, hold regular jam sessions, and increase community awareness of our school and the folk tradition.

We want to build on this year’s success to make the Folk School even better. The Folk School is a small, arts non-profit—so continuing our good work means asking for help. Opening the school on weekends for jam sessions, keeping quality teachers on staff, hosting concerts and workshops are all essential elements to our future, and all require substantial financial resources above and beyond what we bring in from class tuition.

Please help. Invest in the future of the Folk School by making a tax-deductible contribution: become a Friend of the Folk School or renew your gift for 2008. All donations are tax-deductible. Use the button below to make a donation online now.

(Note: It is not necessary to have a PayPal account in order to use this online payment method.)

All contributions provide the greater gift of keeping the Folk School a vibrant institution in the musical community, so please give at the level that is best for you, whether it is a small or large amount. We count on your generosity to offer workshops, open the school for jam sessions and open houses, keep tuition rates stable, expand programs, and host student performance events.

As a Friend of the Folk School, your name will be listed in our e-newsletters and in our annual report. And Friends of the Folk School are always invited to our jam sessions and special events, regardless of whether or not you are enrolled in classes.
If you have questions about the Friends of the Folk School membership program, please give us a call at 314-727-3355. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sincerely,

Colleen M. Heine
Executive Director

and

Sean Ruprecht Belt
President of the Board of Directors
