Instructor: Ted Vasquez
No experience necessary.

Fiddle I
Instructor: Ted Vasquez
Prerequisite: Introduction to Fiddle or equivalent violin or mandolin experience.
Develop your ear and expand your repertoire of tunes. Improve bow control and intonation as you start to feel the rhythm that separates fiddlers from violinists.

Bluegrass Fiddle
Instructor: Colleen Heine
Prerequisite: Fiddle I or equivalent experience. Able to play simple melodies by ear. Basic knowlegde/ability to play doublestops.
In this class, we'll work on instrumental fiddle tunes that are common in the bluegrass repertoire, and we'll construct fiddle breaks to standard bluegrass vocal songs, such as "Little Cabin Home on the Hill" and "Nine Pound Hammer". We'll develop our improvisation skills, library of useful licks, and back-up chops, all in a fun and comfortable environment. Colleen will help take the mystery of out playing in keys like B and E; we'll spend a good portion of the session on those keys. The class will learn primarily by ear; it is not necessary for students to be capable of reading music.

Old-Time Fiddle
Instructor: Steve Hall
Prerequisite: Fiddle I or equivalent experience
Continue to develop your technique and your repertoire of tunes. Work on advanced left and right hand techniques. Learn the fiddler's role in an old-time string band. Many dance tunes from the Missouri/Ozark tradition will be covered.
