Bass Classes
 
Beginning Upright Bass No experience necessary
Instructor: Trigg Render
Learn the essentials of playing bass for bluegrass, old-time, and folk music.
In 8 weeks, you’ll be able to:
• Hold the bass properly
• Pluck open strings in time with 3-chord songs
• Learn how to find and play the root and fifth for songs in most standard keys
• Play a walking bass line to signal chord changes
• Understand and apply some useful music theory

Equipment: BYOB (bass). Rentals available at many music stores in town, including
St. Louis Strings in Dogtown, 6331 Clayton Ave, St. Louis, MO 63139, 644-6999.
Please note: We do not currently have rental basses available at the Folk School.
 
Upright Bass I Prerequisite: Beginning Upright Bass class or workshop, or equivalent musical knowledge/experience

Six-Week Winter class: Wednesdays 6:30, Oct. 31, Nov. 14, Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, Dec. 19

A continuation of the beginning class. Develop your skills and practice playing bass with different types of songs. This class will prepare you to join an ensemble as the bass player!
