For the complete beginner, discover the banjo to be a very playable
instrument. With some simple chords under your belt, you will be playing
a tune on the first night. Part of the class will be spent on the Clawhammer
style, part on finger-picking style. |

Prerequisite:
Introduction to Banjo or some previous stringed instrument experience
With roots in the Appalachian Mountains, this style combines rhythm
and melody to create a sound, perfect for the back porch or for playing
in a stringband. Learn standards like Cripple Creek and Buffalo Gals
as you improve hand coordination and technique.

Learn more advanced right- and left-hand techniques and alternate tunings.
Develop a melodic approach to your favorite tunes. |

Prerequisite: Clawhammer Banjo II and permission from instructor
For the advanced clawhammer banjo player. Continue developing your techniques,
improvisational skills, and build your repertoire to include more complex
tunes. |

Banjo I |

Prerequisite: Intro to Banjo, equivalent banjo experience, or ample
guitar experience
This class will focus on Scruggs-style banjo playing. We'll work the
most-used banjo rolls, lead playing, and back-up while learning some
of the standard banjo tunes. |

Banjo II

Prerequisite: Bluegrass Banjo I or previous experience
This class will be a more advanced continuation of Level I. Learn
more advanced tunes and licks. Back each other up as you trade off taking
leads. |
